Seymour Anime Club

Seymour Anime Club

When asked to pose next to the library’s sign for a picture for the header of this blog, members of the anime club cooperated with their usual outstanding enthusiasm.  Of course, we promised them ice cream after the pictures!  See them all smiling so nicely?  Now you know why!

Anonymous Otaku is the Seymour Library’s anime club.  If you’re a fan of anime or manga and in grades 6-12, you’re quite welcome to join us for movies and snacks on every other Friday afternoon, 3:30-5 pm.  The next meeting is Friday, May 1.

Warrior Heir by Cinda Williams Chima,  The Dead and the Gone by Susan Beth Pfeffer, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins – Three great books in a row is a pretty amazing and, unfortunately, rare experience these days, and I’ve just had it.  Once you start one of these titles, you will not be able to put it down until you reach the end.  They’re all about survival…and all feature strong main characters, male and female, who use their wits and skills to live through huge challenges.  The books are very well-written, and, lucky for us, all three have sequels available or coming out soon.

Seymour Teen Readers - The Best!

Seymour Teen Readers - The Best!

You had to be there to see how amazing the 2009 Greater Rochester Teen Book Festival was this year.  Hundreds and hundreds of teen readers came together at Nazareth College to meet 20 authors of young adult books, hear them talk about their work, and hang out with other book-loving teens.   Everyone on the Brockport bus is planning on going to TBF ’10.  What better praise could there be?  Watch for the TBF book group to begin in December at Seymour.  TBF ’10…we can’t wait!

Special thanks to Brad Alexander and Northside Express Mart for making this all possible for Seymour Teens.
